What are electrical mechanisms?

Electrical mechanisms are the set of parts that make it possible to turn light on and off. They are directly connected to electricity and are the mechanism that operates the light switch or takes electricity to provide voltage to devices.

Mechanisms are an essential element for installations in the home. They are not a very noticeable element but their use is essential in everyday life.  

There are a large number of mechanisms differentiated by their function, style or price. In Prendeluz we have a wide variety in our catalogue that we are going to present to you below: 

Watertight electric mechanism for outdoors

This type of mechanism is mainly used outdoors as they have the IP54 protection rating. This means that they are resistant to dust, humidity and water. They are usually found in gardens, patios, garages or terraces. 

There are watertight mechanisms with individual or double switches, depending on the use to which they are going to be put. As they are for outdoor use, they have a luminous LED light that facilitates their use in the dark. 

A good example of this type of mechanism is the schuko socket outlet with switch. It consists of a double frame with a female socket on the left side and the individual switch on the right side. 

Flush-mounted watertight mechanism 

The watertight flush-mounted electrical mechanisms are characterised by the fact that they are wall-mounted. Old mechanisms can be replaced easily and in a few steps. 

They are usually installed in boxes that are installed in the wall during the construction work. They can also be single or double sockets as required. 

One of the available models we have is the flush-mounted socket which also has a USB input. This gives you a plus when it comes to choosing the mechanism you want. You can connect two devices at the same time, giving you an advantage over the other mechanisms. One input is a regular plug and the other is USB. The USB type is more convenient to use. 

Surface-mounted mechanism 

Surface-mounted devices are outside the "flush-mounted" style. They are screwed to the wall. They usually come as a complete assembly and do not need to be assembled so they are easier to install. 

Again, they can be single or double switches. They act as pushbuttons that go on the wall and activate the lighting circuit in the room. 

We find the double surface switch to control the 2 light connections available in the room independently.

Electrical mechanisms - surface-mounted bases 

As the name suggests, the electrical mechanisms that function as sockets are characterised by having one or two plug connections to power different devices. 

These socket outlets have an internal electrical mechanism because they include switches that turn the power on and off.   

An example among the models we can find in this series is the white schuko socket with switch. It complies with the aforementioned characteristics. 

Porcelain mechanisms

Porcelain mechanisms are a more recent acquisition for Prendeluz. This type of mechanism is more decorative and eye-catching. It has a vintage style that matches the decoration of the home with the rest of the elements. 

The porcelain flush switch is one of the most beautiful pieces in this catalogue. It looks great in country cottages or as part of your home decor. It has an added value as it is a combination of antique and modern switch making it a unique piece.

Finally we find the walnut and oak series mechanisms among all the mechanisms we have available. 

The walnut series and the oak series are both imitations of wood. They differ in that the first is a darker tone and the second is a lighter brown. It is up to you to decide whether you want to decorate with lighter or darker shades. Both are very beautiful and decorative so you can make sets of different pieces that you need to have your electrical mechanisms with the same aesthetics.
